Community Giving
Community Giving
Because Market of Choice believes in social responsibility, we place great importance on giving back. In this video, Rick and Debbie Wright share the heartfelt reasons why and how they’ve become involved in community giving, focused on kids and families. We also strive to support organizations in Oregon that lift up our local maker communities.
Food Banks We Support
Several of our stores participate in our Scan Program for which customers can add a $1, $5 or $10 donation to their purchase at checkout to be donated to the local food bank. And all of our stores work closely with local food-collection programs to ensure that foods nearing expiration are distributed to food banks to help fight hunger in Oregon.

Nonprofits & Organizations
Angel Hair Foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation that provides the funding needed to purchase cranial prosthesis hair systems, or “Angel Hair Systems,” for children in Oregon who have lost their hair due to medical illness. The foundation was started after Staci, daughter of Rick & Debbie Wright, underwent chemotherapy and received a prosthetic hair system. To help support the foundation and its mission, Market of Choice is an annual sponsor of Shall We Dance, a competition that features local celebrities and raises funds for the nonprofit.
Built Oregon is a passionate group of community and industry leaders, entrepreneurs, storytellers, investors and mentors who support the growth of Oregon’s consumer product industries to create sustainable, inclusive and innovative job growth. We are a supporting partner with Built Oregon and its grant program, which assists local BIPOC food and beverage makers through mentorship and grants that are tied to the Built Oregon Mentor Network and Accelerator Program, providing long-term business knowledge and support. Our merchandising and product teams love to help these local food and beverage makers reach their full potential.
Xcelerate Women offers a uniquely powerful combination of business education, peer support and a pathway to financing. It also provides an inclusionary space for women entrepreneurs to transform boardrooms, executive suites, investor meetings and banks to be diverse and equitable. We are honored and excited to join forces with this organization to elevate Oregon makers.
Old Mill Center For Children & Families is a full-service provider of preschool, mental health, early intervention and parent support for children and families in the Corvallis area. As an annual Gold Tiger Sponsor of the organization’s annual auction, Market of Choice donates $5,000 a year to help this community nonprofit provide services that help ensure all children and families have access to early education and therapy.
Oregon Angel Food is an annual event of Oregon Entrepreneurs Network. This event is an opportunity for local food and beverage startups to learn through a series of workshops. Some progress to pitch sessions and present their plans to investors. One receives an angel investment of $100,000. All receive support, technical assistance and introductions. Because we believe in these makers, we’ve made a one-year commitment to stock their products in our stores as soon as they are shelf-ready.
McKenzie River Trust protects and conserves more than 7,000 acres within Oregon watersheds, including the McKenzie River, Long Tom River, Upper Willamette River, Coast and Middle Forks of the Willamette River, Umpqua River, Siuslaw River, and coastal streams and lakes from Reedsport to Lincoln City. McKenzie River Trust’s stewardship of these vital Oregon watersheds has a positive impact on our food system, creating avenues for environmentally thoughtful agricultural practices by local farmers and ranchers to ensuring that fish and other food sources relying on the integrity of our waters are healthy, abundant and remain sustainable. We support this nonprofit for the good of our waterways and food systems.
