“My philosophy is to brew balanced and accessible ales for the people,” said George Johnson, Founder and Head Brewer of Assembly Brewing of Portland. Greg opened his Assembly Brewing on his Detroit roots with a focus on approachable beer and Detroit-style pizza. “Assembly Brewing beers are not trendy; the styles are timely, yet familiar and approachable.”

George began homebrewing in the early 90s as a teen growing up in Boulder, Colorado. In 2014 he completed courses through the American Brewers Guild and went to work at Portland’s Hopworks. He opened Assembly Brewing in March of 2019 becoming Oregon’s first Black-owned brewery. While his team at Assembly is getting high accolades for their Detroit-style pizza and beer at their Portland pub, it is specifically their delicious and approachable beer you’ll find at Market of Choice. Pick one up next time you are shopping and enjoy.
