The buzz about Honeybee Lemonade Syrups has continued from the days when Andrea Wade owned a food cart in Portland and was serving her innovative syrups mixed with sparkling water to accompany her West African and Jamaican fusion fare. These days, her syrups are available for everyone to enjoy.
“Market of Choice is dear to my heart,” Andrea admits. “It is the first grocery store that I went to market. Market of Choice has afforded many opportunities for growth.”
Her impressive lineup of all natural Honeybee Lemonade Syrups includes seasonal offerings, syrups with hemp, and flavors that will make your mouth water. Try Mango Coconut Jasmine, Rhubarb Strawberry Raspberry Lime, Peach Lychee (these three also available with hemp), Jamaican Sorrel, Triple Cherry Lime and Raspberry Black Currant.
Andrea also produces Fireside, a syrup with cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and vanilla and Blue Magic, a syrup that features Meyer lemon, vanilla and nutritious blue algae. Blue-green algae – among the most primitive life forms on Earth – have been consumed as food or medicine for centuries and contain bioactive components that can promote good health. Made with real fruit and natural honey, all Honeybee Lemonade Syrups are certified Non-GMO, gluten-free and vegetarian.
There are so many ways to enjoy Honeybee Lemonade Syrups – mixed into yogurt, milkshakes, marinades, cocktails and Zero Proof cocktails. For a truly refreshing “Sparkly” beverage, try mixing Jamaican Sorrel, Mango Coconut Jasmine, Peach Lychee or Rhubarb Strawberry Raspberry Lime with sparkling water on ice. The syrups also make great toppings for desserts, pancakes, waffles and snow cones. So versatile!
Andrea operates her business with the help of her 19-year-old daughter, Saamiya El-Amin, who launched her first neighborhood business at age 6, and her next business at age 10.
“As a single mother, Black woman and educator, I know the importance of nurturing entrepreneurship in girls at a very early age. I believe to affect real change and close the female entrepreneur gap, we must teach them not only the financial and other skills they will need to succeed; it is also important for girls to see themselves as entrepreneurs and leaders through hands-on experience and interactions with female role models,” Andrea says.
Role model, indeed.
