Market of Choice Expands Private Release Wine Collection with Willamette Valley AVA-Focused Line

EUGENE, ORE., Aug. 20, 2024 — Independent, family-owned grocer Market of Choice is expanding its exclusive private release wine collection with Place, a love letter to Oregon’s AVAs (American Viticultural Areas). The new line launches this summer, joining the retailer’s existing CommUnity Cellars, Intersect, and Bubbles Project brands.

As its name suggests, Place wines are a tribute to the terroir of Oregon’s wine regions. In partnership with NW Wine Company, the first limited edition release is a 2022 Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills AVA, known for its mineral-rich red volcanic soils. The debut Place Pinot Noir is described as smooth and elegant, with notes of dark cherry, plum, raspberry, wet stone, and hints of baking spices. It retails at $29.99. Two additional varietals from Dundee Hills are expected to roll out in the coming months.

“We curate an exceptional assortment of wines from around the world, though we’re known for focusing on Oregon producers,” says Steve Johnson, Market of Choice Beverage Sales Manager. “The new Place Pinot Noir is a celebration of Oregon’s wine industry, and it made sense to begin with Dundee Hills, globally recognized for Pinot Noir.”

“We have always believed in making wines that reflect the soil in which they’re rooted,” says Laurent Montalieu, founder and CEO of NW Wine Company. “Market of Choice shares this philosophy and partnered with us to create Place Pinot Noir, capturing the distinct qualities of the Dundee Hills in every sip.”

The Place line joins Market of Choice’s existing private release brands: CommUnity Cellars, Intersect, and Bubbles Project.

CommUnity Cellars is rooted in Market of Choice’s commitment to Oregon and community. Grapes are hand-harvested from organic and sustainable vineyards in the Willamette Valley and Columbia Gorge, then slowly fermented to let vineyard character shine. The line includes Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Rosé, typically priced between $18 and $26.

Intersect wines are designed around the Northwest’s intersection of landscapes, including varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc from Oregon and Washington vineyards. They’re positioned for everyday enjoyment at approachable prices.

The Bubbles Project brings sparkling wines from top wine regions worldwide. Examples include a Prosecco from Italy’s Volpago del Montello, a Brut Champagne from the Aube region in France, and a Cava Rosé from Spain’s Penedès.

Every private release wine at Market of Choice is held to a standard: it must represent the varietal character, reflect its origin, and remain true to regional style. Watch for announcements of further releases soon.
