Before she was the Queen of Hearts, Tonia Farman founded and ran Project Koru, a nonprofit dedicated to helping young cancer survivors regain their quality of life after recovery. It was during this time that Tonia recognized a need for more functional foods within our food system. Determined to learn more about foods that are healthy for our bodies (and for the environment), Tonia researched and discovered the health benefits of nutritional hemp. Tonia now had a new mission to bring hemp hearts, the tasty and nutritious core of the hemp seed, to market.
Tonia’s roots as granddaughter of the Pickle King of the Pacific Northwest inspired her to carry on the family’s legacy of working with, and supporting American farmers. Only now, she thought, it is time for a queen to reign and so Queen of Hearts was born.
