Sugarpine Drive-In, a destination eatery on the banks of the Sandy River in Troutdale, is known for its savory comfort foods and custom ice cream treats that come piled high. Fans can now find some of their favorite ice cream toppings, as well as Sugarpine’s flagship sweet-and-smoky barbecue sauce, at Market of Choice.
Operating from a remodeled 1920s gas station, where early motor cars would stop on the way to the Columbia Gorge, Sugarpine owners and husband-and-wife team chefs Ryan Domingo and Emily Cafazzo offer updated classic American recipes featuring Pacific Northwest ingredients.
They’re excited about bringing their sauces directly to Market of Choice customers and say they appreciate our dedication to showcasing Oregon products.
Sundae Sauces
Market of Choice now offers three Sugarpine signature sundae sauce:
- Miso Caramel – Drawing from their “Hawaiian meets Pacific Northwest roots,” Ryan and Emily have created a caramel sauce with the addition of chickpea miso for a little umami magic. Its rich and complex flavor will make it the savory sweet sauce you’ll want to drizzle over everything.
- Blueberry Lavender – The key ingredient in Sugarpine’s signature Larch Mountain Sundae, this sauce was inspired by the natural beauty of the Columbia River Gorge and Larch Mountain. Lavender fields and blueberry farms are among the many attractions of the area.
- Honey Hot Fudge – Sweetened with local honey to add depth of flavor and an undeniable melt-in-your-mouth texture.
On the Savory Side
Sugarpine’s Sweet Smoke Barbecue Sauce is inspired by Texas-style barbecue sauce but made in Oregon. It’s a big reason the drive-in’s Pulled Pork Sandwich is so popular. Featuring a sweet, smoky and tangy flavor, it’s perfect for seasoning, glazing or serving alongside grilled meats and vegetables.
