Fresh Fish Delivery – Newport

Newport-based fish wholesaler Kelly Hanson buys the freshest, Oregon-caught fish as it’s unloaded on the docks in Newport, Charleston and Garibaldi, packing it on ice, and delivering it directly to Market of Choice stores. There is no warehouse involved in Kelly’s operation. He gets the fish; he delivers the fish. Dungeness crab, salmon, halibut, bay shrimp – if it’s caught in Oregon’s coastal waters, it’s delivered fresh by Kelly for Market of Choice customers, who value local, sustainably sourced seafood. “Market of Choice was really the first major operation to give me a chance when I explained what I wanted to do,” Kelly says. “They got on board and have been with me ever since, and I really appreciate that.” Kelly believes in supporting the local fisherfolk in Newport and other coastal communities. “This is a community that relies on their fishing to make a living and raise their families.”

GOOD ALTERNATIVE

Seafood rated “good alternative” comes from sources that align with most of the guiding principles. However, there may be issues that require improvement or significant uncertainty about the impacts on wildlife or the environment.

AVOID
