Proud Mary Coffee – Portland

Nolan and Shari Hirte started Proud Mary Coffee in Melbourne, Australia, in 2009, then expanded their coffee roaster business to Portland about five years ago, bringing their impressive range of Mild, Curious and Wild coffee blends to the coffee-loving Pacific Northwest. Their innovative coffees are designed to suit your moods, whether you feel mellow, open to trying something a bit different, or adventurous enough to blast your taste buds into another universe. Proud Mary’s high-quality coffee is sourced direct from origin, then roasted to create singular blends with depth and originality. Served on drip at our Barista counters in Eugene, Corvallis and Bend is the mild Humbler, a great everyday blend with tasting notes of chocolate fudge, caramel and dates, with a big syrupy body. You can enjoy it as espresso, too.

Marigold Coffee

Marigold Coffee – Portland

As the former chef and owner of Redwing Cafe in SE Portland, Joey Gleason has had her feet firmly planted in the city’s food and beverage scene for more than 20 years. In 2009, Joey shifted her focus, turning her passion for roasting coffee into a meaningful, community-minded business called Marigold Coffee. This LGBTQ+ owned business is operated by Joey and her sister, Cassy Gleason, who are intent on building direct relationships with small farms and cooperatives that grow premium coffee. Their seasonal, high-quality coffee is available in several varieties: Squirrel Rhapsody, Kaleidoscope Blend, Roaster’s Choice, Truly Delicious Decaf, Ethiopian Seasonal and Daydreamer Bold Blend. These coffees are roasted at Buckman Coffee Factory, a unique, shared-space facility in Portland and a sister company to Marigold Coffee.

We take coffee seriously. When deciding whether to carry a particular coffee, we research the roaster’s sourcing practices, the quality of the beans, the roast profile and how the coffee cups.

We focus on local roasters, and closely monitor best-by dates to ensure our coffee is always fresh. When you need to grind, you can depend on our high-quality, in-store grinders to do the job while protecting the integrity of the beans.

Additionally, our Beverage Stewards receive ongoing training and cuppings, so they can help you choose the right roast. Stop by and check out our selection of locally sourced and single-origin coffees.

Tea

From loose leaf, bagged, and chai concentrates, to matcha powders, mushroom teas, yerba mate, and hand crafted local options, we have more choices in tea than most any grocer in town. And, we’re always leaning in to learn more about tea trends from those who truly know their stuff.

You see, tea and coffee are like wine in that the variety, terroir and farming practices greatly impact the flavor. That’s why we pay attention to how our tea is sourced, and focus on local makers that we know and trust.
